The pattern I see most often: a business runs on five tools that do not talk to each other. The processes live in one person's head. When that person leaves, the company loses years of knowledge overnight.
I spent 19 years in enterprise systems at KPMG, E.SUN Bank, and Mercedes-Benz, as a business analyst and solutions architect. That work taught me one rule: map how a business actually works before you automate any part of it.
